COMPOSITION
Antiprotozoal & antibacterial Oral Suspension contains 200 mg benzoyl metronidazole (Equivalent to 125 mg metronidazole per 5 ml).
PROPERTIES
Metrozole suspension contains benzoyl metronidazole, the prototype broad spectrum antiprotozoal agent. Metrozole suspension exerts a potent efficacy in eradication Of protozoal infections caused by Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia and Trichomonas vaginalis. It also possesses very strong bactericidal action against anaerobic infections. Metrozole spectrum of activity extends to include anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli (Bacteroides and Fusobacterium species), Gram-positive bacilli (Clostridium species and some strains of Eubacterium) and all anaerobic cocci.
Metrozole suspension has a pleasant and palatable taste specially formulated for children.

INDICATIONS
DOSAGE
It is recommended to be taken at least 1 hour before meals
Intestinal amebiasis ( for 5 days)
Extra-intestinal amebiasis (for 5 to 10 days)
Giardiasis (for 3 days)
Anaerobic infections (for 7 days)
7.5 mg/KG every 8 hours.
Acute ulcerative gingivitis (for 3 days)
Urogenital trichomoniasis ( for 7 days)

SIDE EFFECTS
Following Of metronidazole-containing preparations, mild effects such as mild gastrointestinal discomfort. unpleasant metallic and darkening Of the urine may occur.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to benzoyl metronidazole.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
The anticoagulant effect of warfarin is potentiated. Phenobarbitone increases the metabolism of metronidazole. Cimetidine inhibits the metabolism Of metronidazole. Phenytoin metabolism is inhibited.
PRECAUTIONS
Dosage should be adjusted in patients with hepatic dysfunction.
Should be used with caution in patients with active CNS diseases.
