One tablet three times daily or as directed by the physician.

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains: Active ingredients: 2 mg Thiamine mononitrate, 1 mg Riboflavine, 20 mg Ascorbic acid, 15 mg Nicotinamide, 3000 I.U Vitamin A (palmitate), 300 I.U Vitamin D3

Excipients: Lactose, cellulose, aerosil, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, talc, titanium dioxide, and FD&C yellow no. 6 (sunset yellow).

Properties

Mixavit is a well-balanced preparation that contains a group of vitamins which are essential for the maintenance of normal metabolic functions of the body.

Healthy people with well-balanced diets receive adequate amounts of vitamins from their food, especially in well-developed countries, but deficiency may occur in the diet in less developed countries. Deficiency may also occur in persons on restricted or deficient diets, in persons with malabsorption syndrome and when requirements are increased such as during periods of growth, in pregnancy and lactation, and in increased metabolic states such as hyperthyroidism and fever.

B-complex vitamins are necessary for conversion of carbohydrates, protein and fats into tissue and energy. Vitamin C is involved in tissue repair and collagen formation. Vitamin A is necessary for proper functioning of the retina. It appears to be essential to the integrity of epithelial cells. Vitamin D is necessary for regulation of calcium metabolism. Its deficiency leads to rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.

Precautions

Caution should be considered if there is any allergic reaction to any of its components.

Pregnancy: Problems have not been reported with the intake of normal daily recommended dosage.
The daily dosage should not be more than one tablet, since vitamin A should not be taken in excessive doses (more than 5000 I.U) during pregnancy.

Lactation: Problems have not been reported with the intake of normal daily recommended dosage.

Side Effects

Mixavit tablets are generally well-tolerated when taken within the recommended doses. Slight yellowish discoloration of the urine may occasionally occur. This is due to the vitamin B2 (riboflavin) content of the preparation and is completely harmless.
