NORPREGNA is an oral emergency contraceptive pill (also known as the morning after pill). NORPREGNA is an effective morning after pill( 95% efficacy). If you have had unprotected sex, taking NORPREGNA can prevent unplanned pregnancy. NORPREGNA can be effective for up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex has taken place, but like all morning after pills it is more effective the sooner you take it.

N.B. NORPREGNA is intended for use in the case of emergency; it is not meant to be a replacement for a regular method of contraception.

Is NORPREGNA an effective contraceptive pill?

NORPREGNA causes the ovulation to be postponed so that the sperm cannot fertilize the egg. NORPREGNA contraceptive pills should be taken as soon as possible after sexual intercourse, the pills are effective for up to 120 hours (5 days) of sexual intercourse. NORPREGNA pills are 95% effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 120 hours of unprotected sex, and then their effectiveness decreases. How to use NORPREGNA?

Adult and adolescent female dose for emergency contraception: One 30 mg tablet, only once, taken as soon as possible within 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected intercourse. If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking the pill, the dose should be repeated. It should be emphasized that NORPREGNA is not intended for routine contraception and does not replace routine / hormonal / traditional contraceptive medications. It should be noted that the safety and efficacy of repeated use was not evaluated during the same cycle.

What to expect after taking NORPREGNA?

NORPREGNA is generally well tolerated but, like any medicine, some people will experience side effects after taking NORPREGNA. The most common side effects typically only affect up to 1 in 10 people. 

It is important to remember that NORPREGNA is only effective for a specific instance of unprotected sex. Taking NORPREGNA will not protect you for future occasions of unprotected sex. Your fertility will return to normal very quickly, and you should use a condom until your next period arrives, even if you are using a hormonal method of contraception like the pill.
