Composition
Each capsule contains:
Atenolol 50 mg.
Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.
Amiloride Hydrochloride 2.5 mg.
Description
Atenolol is a cardioselective beta 1, adrenoreceptor blocking agent which reduces heart rate, cardiac output and blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic.
Amiloride is a potassium sparing diuretic which although having a mild antihypertensive effect is used primarily for its potassium conserving effects.
Indications
Atenoretic is indicated in the management of moderate to severe hypertension not controlled by single antihypertensive agents like atenolol or a diuretic.

Dosage and administration
Hypertension Initial dose is one capsule daily to be increased to two capsules daily if required.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the formulation, sinus bradycardia. second and higher degrees of heart block, cardiogenic shock, hypotension and overt heart failure.
Warning and precaution
The drug should be used during pregnancy only if possible benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.
The drug should be used with caution in nursing mothers.
No dose reduction is required as long as creatinine clearance remains above 34 ml/min.

Drug Interaction
Calcium antagonists: Generally calcium antagonists potential the effects of beta-blockers but adverse reactions may occur in some patients.
Diltiazem and verapamil can enhance the effects of atenolol.
The drugs should not be used concurrently in patients with pre-existing conduction abnormalities, arrhythmias. impaired left ventricular function and aortic stenosis. أتينوريتيك قوة ثلاثسة لخفض ضغط الدم
Side effects
Coldness of extremities, muscular fatigue, and isolated cases, bradycardia may be seen.
