Properties
DEXATROL® combines two antibiotics, neomycin, and polymyxin B, with dexamethasone, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid. The antibiotics are highly active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms including: Staphylococcus aureus, H.influenzae, E.coli, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Neisseria, Proteus species, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The potent anti-inflammatory activity of dexamethasone makes it ideal in controlling the inflammation associated with bacterial infections.
Indications
Eye: Conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, nonpurulent blepharitis, scleritis, episcleritis, and scleroconjunctivitis.
Ear: Infections of the external ear canal caused by susceptible organisms. Mastoidectomy cavity infections or chronic suppurative otitis media.
Dosage and Administration
Eye Drops: 1-2 drops 4-6 times daily.
Eye Ointment: A small amount of ointment two times daily, in the morning and at bedtime.
Ear Drops: In External Ear Canal Infections: Topical to the ear canal 4 drops 3-4 times daily.
